Layer: Riser (ID: 5)

Name: Riser

Display Field: risermaterial

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPoint

Description: The Riser feature class is used in 3-GIS to denote the transition of a fiber cable from underground/buried to aerial. If a user is tracking the placement type of a cable, aerial vs underground/buried, there must be two separate fiber cables created to represent each distinct placement type. The Riser feature class allows the signal or light from one cable to pass into the other cable much like a splice closure. In addition, the height attribute on a riser can be populated to denote the elevation change from the underground/buried cable to the aerial cable up on the pole. This height is then added to the length of the overall signal or light path.
